Dinosaur Clothes for Kids and Toddlers (and Matching Pieces for the Grown-Ups)

Some kids go through a dinosaur phase. Others simply become dinosaur people, and the clothes have to keep up. Good dinosaur clothes need to survive the playground and the washing machine, fit a child who grew an inch since summer, and still feel special enough to wrap for Christmas. This guide covers what we make for toddlers and kids, sorted by age, with the sizes, fabrics and prices from each listing. There's also a section on matching the grown-ups, and a table of order-by dates for the holidays.

Everything here is printed when you order it, so nothing is sitting in a warehouse. That's why the order-by dates at the end matter.

The short version

Dinosaur clothes for toddlers (2T–5T)

Tees. The Dino Party toddler tee is the simple one: 100% cotton, pre-shrunk, a relaxed fit, in White or Pink, 2T–5T, $22.99. Its listing has the most useful size chart in the toddler range because it gives weights as well as inches. A 2T fits 30–33 lb and a 5T fits 40–45 lb, which helps if you're buying for a child you don't see every day.

For a birthday, Three Rex has a smiling T-Rex in a party hat next to a big number 3. There's a Two Rex for the year before, and its listing says the two are drawn to go together for siblings. Both are $24.99 in 2T–5T, in combed ring-spun cotton.

A warm layer. The Little Roar toddler hoodie ($34.99) is a baby T-Rex mid-roar in black-and-white line art, in nine colors from Kelly to Raspberry. It has a jersey-lined hood and side pockets, and no drawstrings, which matters at this age. Note the sizes: 2T, 4T and 5–6T, with no 3T. If your child is in 3T now, the 4T leaves room to grow; the listing's chart has a 4T at 17⅝″ long and 15½″ wide.

Dresses. The girls'/toddler sundresses are A-line and sleeveless, in a stretchy 95% polyester/5% spandex. Cool T-Rex ($35.99) is the everyday one. For the holidays, Christmas Cookies ($34.99) is the same dress in a Christmas print. Sizes run 2T, 3T, 4T, 6T, then S–XL for bigger girls, so one dress style covers a toddler and an older sister. It's sleeveless, so for a December party, plan a cardigan or a long-sleeve tee underneath.

For kids: youth S–XL

Tees. The kids' tees share one blank: 100% soft jersey cotton (heather colors are part polyester), pre-shrunk, side-seamed, with a relaxed unisex fit. The listing's chart runs from 15¼″ wide and 20⅞″ long at youth S to 18¼″ wide and 24⅜″ long at XL. If your child is between sizes, lay a shirt that fits now on a table and measure it across the chest.

• Dinosaur Chart, $24.99, for the child who corrects you on how to say Pachycephalosaurus. Athletic Heather or White.
• Name-Saurus, $27.99, prints their name above "-SAURUS": LEO-SAURUS, AVA-SAURUS. Up to 10 letters, printed in capitals exactly as typed. Personalized shirts can't be returned or exchanged for a spelling or size change (a damaged or misprinted one gets replaced), so check both before you check out.

Hoodies. The youth hoodies are a 50/50 cotton-polyester midweight fleece with a front pouch pocket, a double-lined hood and no drawcords. Fossil Hunter ($36.99) is a dig-site badge with a T-Rex skull, pickaxe and brush, for the future paleontologist. Dino Crew ($39.99) comes in five colors including Light Pink. Both run youth XS–XL. Leggings. The Cozy Christmas Dinos leggings are a Santa-hat T-Rex, a scarf-wrapped stegosaurus and a hatching baby dino on deep green, $34.99 in 2T–7. A youth version comes in 8–20. The chart is body measurements, and the listing says to choose by height first. One thing the listing is clear about: these are for wearing and playing in, not children's sleepwear.

Matching the whole family

Kids love matching a parent much more than parents expect them to. There are three easy ways to do it:

1. Same shirt, two sizes. The T-Rex adult tee ($24.99, XS–4XL) and the kids' T-Rex tee above share a name, and both come in Black, True Royal and Kelly. Check the photos to make sure the designs pair the way you want.

Every piece is made to order, so production time and shipping time add up. We worked back from the longest time each listing quotes, aiming for delivery by Monday, December 21, and skipped Thanksgiving:

These are our estimates from the ranges on the listings, not a delivery promise. Standard shipping is US-only, and the tracking number comes once your order moves from production to shipping. The Dino Party toddler tee's listing doesn't quote a time, so we'd order it with the early group. If you're buying a whole family set, order it all by the earliest date in your basket so it arrives together.

Questions parents ask

What's the smallest size? For this guide, 2T. Below that, the baby range starts at newborn; see the infant dinosaur clothes guide. The matching Christmas baby bodysuit runs 12M–24M.

Are the kids' sizes boys' or girls'? The kids' tees and youth hoodies are a relaxed unisex fit. The "boys" and "girls" labels on our collections are about the designs, not the cut, so shop both.

Do the kids' hoodies have drawstrings? No. The Little Roar toddler hoodie and the youth hoodies in this guide are all listed without drawstrings.

Can the Christmas leggings be worn as pajamas? The listing says they're made for everyday wear and play, not as children's sleepwear. For Christmas morning, they're for the photo and the present-opening, not for bed.

What if my child is between sizes? For tees and hoodies, size up. They're pre-shrunk, but kids grow faster than cotton shrinks. For leggings, follow the listing and choose by height.
