Dinosaur Christmas Pajamas: One Print for the Whole Family

The Christmas-morning photo is the reason most families buy matching pajamas, and it only works if everyone is actually in the same print. Our dinosaur Christmas pajamas are one original pattern, Cozy Christmas Dinos, on seven pieces: pajama pants for adults, a women's satin top and pants, a pattern hoodie, leggings for kids and big kids, and a bodysuit for the baby. Below is what each piece is, the sizes and prices from each listing, one honest note about the kids' pieces, and the dates to order by for Christmas.

The print

Cozy Christmas Dinos is a whole holiday party in one pattern: a Santa-hat T-Rex, a stegosaurus in a scarf, a long-neck brontosaurus and a baby dino hatching from its egg, with wrapped gifts, holly, stars and snowflakes on a deep evergreen background. It's printed edge to edge on everything except the baby bodysuit, which carries a mid-chest design (the T-Rex and the hatchling) from the same artwork. The short version

Dinosaur Christmas pajamas for adults

The pajama pants are the piece most people start with. The Cozy Christmas Dinos adult pajama pants are a relaxed, unisex wide leg in a 93% polyester / 7% elastane mid-weight jersey, with deep side pockets and an elastic waistband with a drawstring. Jersey with stretch feels closer to good sweatpants than to thin woven pajama cotton: warmer, softer, and the print doesn't break up at the seams. Sizes run 2XS to 6XL, and the chart goes by body measurement, from a 28⅜″ waist at 2XS to a 55⅛″ waist at 6XL. Measure your waist and hips and pick the size that matches both. The women's set is a different fabric for a different feel. The women's pajama top is a silky, satin-feel button-up with long sleeves, a chest pocket and contrast piping on the collar, pocket and cuffs. The matching women's pajama pants are straight-leg with piping down the side seams. Both are lightweight 100% polyester, in XS–2XL. Buy them together for the classic button-up pajama look, or wear the top with the jersey pants if you'd rather have the warmth. Note that the women's set is made by our print partner in China and ships from there, so it takes the longest to arrive (see the dates below).

The hoodie is for the family member who won't wear pajamas in a photo. The Christmas Dinosaur Pattern Hoodie is the same pattern on a unisex hoodie with a brushed fleece inside and a double-lined hood, 2XS–6XL. It's the one piece here that works just as well at a Christmas party on the 23rd as it does on the couch on the 25th.

For the kids: matching, but not sleepwear

This is the part we want to be clear about. The kids' and baby pieces match the print exactly, but they are not children's sleepwear. Their listings say so: they're made for everyday wear and play as part of a matching family outfit. So treat them as the kids' half of the Christmas outfit, for the photo, Christmas morning, the drive to grandma's or the school concert, and put the kids to bed in their usual pajamas.

• Kids' leggings, 2T–7, $34.99. Soft stretch microfiber with an elastic waistband that pulls on easily. The chart lists height first, from 36¼″ at 2T to 50⅜″ at 7, and the listing says to size by height, then check waist and hips.
• Youth leggings, 8–20, $34.99. Four-way stretch, so they move with a big kid and keep their shape. Height runs from 52¾″ at size 8 to 66⅞″ at 20.
• Baby bodysuit, 12M–24M, $24.99. 100% combed cotton with lap shoulders and three snaps, in White, Ash, Black or Vintage Indigo. It's sized by garment length, 12¾″ at 12M up to 14¾″ at 24M, so lay one of your baby's current bodysuits flat and compare.

When to order for Christmas

Every piece is printed when you order it, so production and shipping add together. We worked back from the longest time each listing quotes, aiming for delivery by Monday, December 21, and skipped Thanksgiving Day:

These are our estimates from the ranges on the listings, not a delivery promise. The women's set ships from overseas and the listing warns it can occasionally take longer to clear customs, so we'd order it earlier than November 25 if you can. Standard shipping is US-only, and you get a tracking number when your order moves from production to shipping. If you're buying the whole family set, order everything by the earliest date in your basket so it all arrives together.

Questions people ask

Do you make a kids' dinosaur Christmas pajama set? Not as sleepwear. The kids' and youth leggings and the baby bodysuit match the family print, but they're made for daytime wear and play, not for sleeping in.

Is there a men's version? The adult pajama pants and the hoodie are unisex, 2XS–6XL. The satin top and pants are cut for women.

How do the adult sizes run? Go by the chart, not your usual letter. The pants are sized by waist and hips, and the drawstring gives some room at the waist, so if you're between sizes the hips are the measurement to trust.

Will the print fade? The leggings' listing says the colors are made to stay bright wash after wash. The adult pajama pants and the women's top and pants are printed before they're cut and sewn, so the pattern runs right to the seams.
