  • Dinosaur Pajamas for Adults: How to Find a Pair That Actually Fits

    September 25, 2026 5 min read

Search for dinosaur pajamas and you will get about forty results in size 4T. The internet has decided that wanting a triceratops on your sleepwear means you are five years old, and every big retailer has built its dinosaur category around toddlers. If you are an adult who would quite like the same thing in your own size, the search gets frustrating fast.

So here is the honest version. Adult dinosaur pajamas exist, there are fewer of them than the search results suggest, and the thing that will actually determine whether you're happy with a pair is sizing — not the print. Below is what we make, the real measurements, and what to check before you buy from anyone.

Why nearly every result is a toddler size

Dinosaur prints sell best in children's sleepwear, so that's where the inventory sits. Carter's, Old Navy, Gap and Target all rank for this search with kids' pajama pages. Two things follow from that.

First, if you're shopping for a child, you have enormous choice and you should use it. Second, if you're shopping for yourself, most of the listings you're scrolling past simply stop at size 5T, and the few that do go adult are often a "family matching" set where the adult version is an afterthought.

The upshot: filter for adult sizing before you fall in love with a print. It saves the disappointment of getting to checkout and finding the largest size is a Youth L.

What we make: two adult dinosaur pajama pants

We make dinosaur pajamas as wide-leg pants rather than as a top-and-bottom set, in a unisex cut, in eleven sizes from 2XS to 6XL.

Realistic Jurassic is the all-over print one — dense, naturalistic dinosaurs across the whole leg rather than a single motif on the hip. It starts at $49.99 and rises to $58.99 at 6XL.

Dino Fossils is the quieter option: skeleton and fossil line-work instead of full-colour dinosaurs, which reads more like a normal pair of patterned lounge pants from across a room. It starts at $50.00 and goes to $58.47 at 6XL.

Both are the same garment underneath:

    • Relaxed unisex fit, wide leg
    • Side pockets
    • Elastic waistband with a white drawstring
    • Premium knit mid-weight jersey
    • 93% polyester / 7% spandex (US), 96% polyester / 4% spandex (EU)

The mid-weight jersey with spandex is the part worth knowing about. It's closer to a good pair of sweatpants than to the thin woven cotton most pajama bottoms use — more stretch, more drape, warmer in November, and it holds an all-over print without the pattern breaking up at the seams. If you sleep hot, that's a strike against it; see the shorts below.

Sizing: measure your waist, ignore the letter

This is the part that actually decides whether you keep them. Alpha sizing on print-on-demand garments does not match the alpha sizing in your wardrobe, and on a drawstring wide-leg pant you have more room for error at the waist than at the hip. Measure both, then read the table.

    Size Waist (in) Hips (in)
    2XS 28 ⅜ 35 ⅜
    XS 29 ⅞ 37
    S 31 ½ 38 ⅝
    M 33 ⅛ 40 ⅛
    L 36 ¼ 43 ¼
    XL 39 ⅜ 46 ½
    2XL 42 ½ 49 ⅝
    3XL 45 ⅝ 52 ¾
    4XL 48 ⅞ 55 ⅞
    5XL 52 59
    6XL 55 ⅛ 62 ¼

Two notes on reading it. The jump from M to L is about three inches at the waist, which is larger than the steps below it — if you measure between the two, the drawstring makes sizing up the safer call. And the range genuinely runs to a 55-inch waist, which is wider than most dinosaur sleepwear goes; if you've been searching plus size dinosaur pajamas and finding nothing above a 2XL, that's what the top of this table is for.

If you sleep hot: pajama shorts instead

Mid-weight jersey is lovely in December and too much in July. The Frosted Dino Cookie pajama shorts are the warm-sleeper answer — a women's cut in 100% polyester with a silky rather than brushed hand, relaxed through the leg, adjustable drawstring, and piping down the side seams. $31.99 through XL, $33.99 at 2XL, in black or white.

    Matching the family, honestly

A quick note, because this is the other thing people want from this search: we do not make a matching adult-and-child pajama set. The adult pants have no kids' counterpart, and we'd rather say so than sell you half a set.

What does work is matching on theme rather than on garment. Our kids' dinosaur apparel runs to 185 pieces, and a child in a dinosaur tee alongside an adult in dinosaur pajama pants photographs as a set even though it isn't one. If you're after genuinely coordinated dinosaur outfits for a whole family, we wrote a longer guide to family dinosaur costumes that goes through it properly.

Timing: order earlier than you think

Every pair is printed when you order it rather than pulled from a shelf. That's better for waste and worse for procrastinators. Our published US estimates are 2–4 business days to produce and 3–8 business days to ship, so plan on roughly one to two and a half working weeks door to door. Tracking goes out when the order moves into shipping.

For a December gift, that means ordering in the first half of the month rather than the week before — and if dinosaur pajamas are going under a tree, earlier still, because December is when everyone else remembers too.

    Questions people actually ask

Are they unisex? The pants are, genuinely — a relaxed wide-leg cut with a drawstring waist, sized by waist and hip measurement rather than by gender. The shorts are cut for women.

Do you make a one-piece dinosaur onesie? No. If you specifically want a hooded one-piece kigurumi, we're not the shop for it. The two-piece approach is deliberate: you can wear the pants on their own with a t-shirt, which is not true of a costume onesie.

    What's the largest size? 6XL, which fits a 55 ⅛ inch waist and 62 ¼ inch hip.

Will the print fade in the wash? All-over printing puts the ink into the fabric rather than on top of it, which is why it doesn't crack the way a screen-printed graphic can. Follow the care label that comes with the garment.

Are they warm enough to be trousers? With side pockets and a drawstring, most people wear these as lounge pants rather than strictly as sleepwear. That's rather the point of mid-weight jersey.

If you want one thing from this page: measure your waist, then pick the size from the table rather than from what your jeans say. Start with Realistic Jurassic if you want the full-colour print, and browse the rest of the adult dinosaur apparel if you'd rather build the cosy end of your wardrobe out further — the dinosaur hoodies are the natural pairing — we went through how those fit in a separate guide.
