Somebody in your house has asked for a dinosaur stocking. Maybe it's a four-year-old who won't hang anything else on the mantel, maybe it's the adult who has had a T. rex on every birthday cake since 1993. Either way, you want to know what's out there, whether it's big enough to be worth filling, and whether it will turn up before Christmas Eve.
That last question matters more than usual here, so we'll be straight about it up front: our stockings are printed to order and the shipping estimate is long. Everything you need to decide is below — the fifteen designs, the real size, the fabric, and the dates.
All fifteen designs are the same stocking underneath. Only the print changes.
One thing they are not: personalized. There is no name field on these listings, so what you see in the photo is what arrives.
The trick most families use to tell stockings apart is a name across the cuff. With fifteen prints to choose from, you can do it with the design instead — everyone gets their own dinosaur, and nobody argues over whose is whose. Here is how the range sorts out.
If the stockings hang next to garland and a wreath, the dark-background prints sit better than the white ones.
You can see all fifteen side by side in the dinosaur Christmas stockings collection.
Here's the part to read twice. Each stocking is made when you order it, and the listings give two separate estimates for US standard shipping:
| Stage | Estimate |
|---|---|
| Production | 2–5 business days |
| Shipping | 10–30 business days |
| Door to door | 12–35 business days |
Thirty-five business days is seven working weeks. That is much longer than our pajamas or the dinosaur ornaments, and it's the reason this guide is going up in September. Counting back from the listings' own estimates, skipping weekends and Thanksgiving:
| If you want it… | Order by (slowest estimate) |
|---|---|
| Hanging for Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 27) | October 8 |
| Up for the first weekend of December (Dec 5) | October 16 |
| Filled by Christmas Eve (Dec 23 arrival) | November 3 |
At the middle of the estimate, a stocking ordered around November 19 would make it by Christmas; at the fastest, one ordered on December 7 would. But those are the good cases, not the promise. If a stocking arriving on December 28 would genuinely ruin something, order before November. Tracking is sent once your order moves into the shipping stage. Those estimates are for US standard shipping; the listings don't quote times for anywhere else.
A 19-inch stocking takes more filling than people expect. A few things from the rest of the shop that fit through the cuff:
For the grown-up whose stocking is the Drinking Rex, a pair of our adult dinosaur pajama pants is a reasonable thing to leave folded on top.
How big are the stockings? 13″ × 19.3″ (33 × 49 cm). There's only one size.
Can I get a name put on one? No. None of the fifteen has a personalization option. Giving each person a different print does the same job.
What are they made of? 100% polyester faux suede, with a hanging loop.
Are they sturdy enough to hold a heavy present? They're fabric stockings with a fabric loop, so they're made for the usual small things — candy, socks, small toys. For anything heavy, check what your mantel hook is rated for before you trust it.
What if I'm outside the US? The stocking listings only quote US standard shipping times, so check the delivery options at checkout before you count on a date.
Will they arrive by Christmas? If you order by November 3, the listings' slowest estimate still gets it to you by December 23. After that it becomes a gamble, and after early December even the fastest estimate doesn't make it.
If you take one thing from this page: pick the stockings by the end of October. Start with the full collection of dinosaur Christmas stockings, choose one print per person, and order them together so they arrive together.
