Dinosaur Stickers: Our Two Vinyl Ranges, What Size to Pick, and Where They Stick

Most dinosaur stickers end up on one of four things: a laptop, a water bottle, a notebook or the back of a car. What you're sticking it to decides almost everything, from the size to whether you want a white or clear backing.

We print 29 dinosaur stickers in two vinyl ranges. Below is what separates them, which size suits which surface, and when to order for Christmas. Every size, price and shipping time comes from the live product listings.

Two kinds of dinosaur sticker

Both ranges are vinyl and both are printed when you order. They're made differently, though, and the listings promise different things.

The original range: waterproof, with a white or clear backing

Eighteen designs. The listings describe them as premium waterproof vinyl for indoor and outdoor use, with a scratch-resistant surface. They're printed with eco-solvent inks over a white or transparent underlay, and the material won't rip if you peel it back to straighten it.

Most designs let you pick the backing:

• White gives the dinosaur a white border, like a classic die-cut sticker. It reads well on any color, including a dark laptop.
• Transparent drops the background, so the dinosaur looks painted onto the surface. Best on light-colored, smooth things like a white bottle or a window.

Sizes run 2″, 3″, 4″ and 6″ square, from $3.99 to $5.99 on most designs. Not every design comes in every size or both backings, so check the listing.

This is where most of the funny dinosaur stickers live: Angry Rex, Ramen T-Rex, Chillin Rex, Hip Rex, Skateboarder and Target Rex. For something cute, there's Baby Dino, Frolicking Dinosaur, Rainbow Bubble Bath and the Brontosaurus Unicorn. There's also a Happy Birthday T-Rex, from $3.29, and a Christmas one: Rex's First Snowman.

The opaque art range: solid color, made to cover

Eleven designs, in a painterly style that puts some less-famous dinosaurs in front: Neon Bambiraptor, Synthwave Dinosaur, Mossy Avaceratops, Nipponosaurus River, Dryptosaurus, Piatnitzkysaurus Rainstorm, Mandala Dubreuillosaurus, Psychedelic 'Tops, Swirling Sky, Dino Daydream and River Runner.

These are printed on high-opacity vinyl (95µ) that you can't see through, so they'll cover an old sticker, a logo or a chip in the paint. The listings say they go on without bubbles. Clean the surface first.

Sizes are 3″, 4″ and 5.5″ square at $3.99, $4.99 and $5.99. Three designs, Nipponosaurus River, Neon Bambiraptor and Synthwave Dinosaur, also come as a 15″ × 3.75″ strip for $8.25, which is bumper-sticker shaped.

The listings for this range don't call the stickers waterproof. If it's going somewhere wet, the original range is the one that says so.

Which size dinosaur sticker for which surface?

Size is the decision people get wrong most often. Here's a rough guide:

• 2″: phones, planners, a kid's notebook. Small enough for a phone case or a page corner. Original range only.
• 3″: the all-rounder. Fits a water bottle, a lunch box or a laptop with room for others. This is the size most people mean when they say "a sticker."
• 4″: the laptop centerpiece. One sticker that is clearly the main one. Good on a guitar case or a toolbox too.
• 5.5″ or 6″: a car window, a cooler, a door. Readable from across a room or a parking lot.
• 15″ × 3.75″: a bumper or a long flat edge. Three designs only.

What we don't make: wall decals, puffy or foam stickers, glow-in-the-dark stickers or sticker sheets. If you're looking for dinosaur stickers for a bedroom wall, ours top out at 6 inches, so they work as accents on a door or a toy box rather than a mural.

Ordering dinosaur stickers for Christmas

Stickers are about the best stocking stuffer there is: cheap, flat and personal. Each one is printed to order, and the two ranges have different lead times:

• Original range: 1–2 business days to make, then 2–5 to ship. Up to 7 business days. Order by December 11 for it to arrive by December 22.
• Opaque art range: 3–5 business days to make, then 3–6 to ship. Up to 11 business days. Order by December 7 to be safe for December 22.

Those dates work back from the slowest estimate. Both ranges ship to US addresses only, and you get a tracking code once your order ships.

Are your dinosaur stickers waterproof? The original range is listed as waterproof vinyl for indoor and outdoor use. The opaque art range is durable vinyl, but its listings don't say waterproof.

What sizes do the stickers come in? From 2″ to 6″ square, plus a 15″ × 3.75″ strip on three designs. Available sizes vary by design.

What's the difference between white and transparent? White gives the sticker a white background and border. Transparent is clear, so only the artwork shows. It's offered on most original-range designs.

Can I put one on a car? Yes. For a window, a 5.5″ or 6″ works well. For a bumper, look at the 15″ × 3.75″ strip.

Do you ship outside the US? No. The listings say US only.
