  • Dinosaur Bathroom Decor: What Survives the Steam, What to Buy First, and Two Rooms Priced Out

    October 18, 2026 6 min read

A bathroom is the easiest room in the house to give a dinosaur theme. It's small, so a few pieces fill it. But it's also the hardest room on decor. Steam curls paper, wet feet soak the floor, and anything near the tub gets splashed. So good dinosaur bathroom decor is decor that copes with water. Whether it has a dinosaur on it is the easy part.

This guide goes surface by surface: floor, walls, tiles, towels, windowsill. It says what holds up and what doesn't, then prices out a kids' bathroom and a grown-up one. Everything named is a real listing in our shop today, with the price and size from that listing. One thing first: we don't sell shower curtains, hand towels or soap dispensers. Those are below too, as gaps to fill elsewhere.

Dinosaur bathroom decor, surface by surface

Surface What we'd use Price Handles water?
Floor Museum Dinosaurs bath mat $29.99–$44.99 Yes. That's its job: memory foam microfiber, anti-slip backing
Walls Fossil Hunter framed poster $49.99 Better than bare paper. Acrylic front, wood frame
Walls Unframed paper poster From $15.99 Only in a well-vented room, and best framed
Tiles, mirror, bin Waterproof vinyl stickers From $3.29 Yes. The listing says waterproof, indoor and outdoor
Towel bar Dino Jungle towel $49.99–$54.99 Yes. Terry back, 52/48 cotton-poly
Windowsill Dinosaur planter with a succulent $34.99 Yes. Recycled plastic pot, and succulents like bright windows

Start with the floor: a dinosaur bath mat

If you buy one thing, buy the bath mat. It's the biggest patch of dinosaur in the room, everyone sees it, and it does a real job.

The Museum Dinosaurs bath mat has natural-history-style dinosaur illustrations on a dark background, like a page from an old museum guide. It has a memory foam microfiber face and an anti-slip polyester backing. It comes in two sizes:

    • 24″ × 17″, $29.99. For a small bathroom or in front of the sink.
    • 34″ × 21″, $44.99. For in front of a bathtub. A standard tub is about 60″ long, so this covers the stretch where you actually step out.

The dark background is practical too. A light mat in a kids' bathroom shows every muddy footprint by Wednesday. This one doesn't.

Walls: posters, and how to keep them flat in a steamy room

A wall is where a dinosaur bathroom gets its personality, and it's where most of them go wrong. Our posters are printed on thick matte paper (10.3 mil, 189 g/m²). That's good paper, but it's still paper. Hung bare in a bathroom where people take long hot showers, any paper print will eventually ripple.

Three ways to keep it flat:

    1. Buy it framed. The Fossil Hunter framed poster ($49.99) comes in a ¾″ ayous wood frame with an acrylic front and hanging hardware. The design is a vintage dig-site badge: a T-rex skull, a pickaxe and brush, and "Fossil Hunter · Dig Crew" lettering. It's the safest wall piece we sell for a bathroom.
    2. Frame an unframed print yourself. Any frame with a glazed front protects the paper. Hang it on the wall farthest from the shower.
    3. Fix the steam, not the poster. Run the fan or crack the window for 15 minutes after a shower. That protects the paint and grout as well as the print.

Which print? It depends on who uses the bathroom:

    • For kids: the Dinosaur Chart with Names poster shows 12 dinosaurs, each labeled with its name, its period, and whether it ate plants or meat. It gives a child something to read while brushing their teeth. It's $24.99 for 12″ × 16″, up to $34.99 for 24″ × 32″.
    • For adults: the Velociraptor Natural History Plate is a feathered Velociraptor mongoliensis in the style of an old scientific illustration. It looks like a print from a natural history museum, not a kids' room. It's $15.99 for 8″ × 10″, and 11″ × 14″ ($18.99) suits a bathroom wall well.

We have 15 posters in all, from vintage plates to a retro T-rex sunset, in the dinosaur posters collection.

Tiles, mirrors and bins: waterproof vinyl stickers

Stickers are the cheapest way to add dinosaurs, and the only decor here you can put right on the tile. Our stickers are waterproof vinyl rated for indoor and outdoor use, with a scratch-resistant surface.

Rainbow Bubble Bath is the obvious bathroom pick: a dinosaur in a bubble bath, from $3.99 for a 2″ square up to $5.99 for 6″. It comes on a white or transparent backing. Choose transparent for glass and white tile, so it looks printed on, and white for dark or patterned surfaces.

Good places for one: the corner of the mirror, the side of the bathtub surround, a plain plastic bin, or the kids' step stool. Put them on clean, dry, smooth surfaces, and keep them clear of the spray zone in the shower itself. Waterproof doesn't mean they'll survive daily scrubbing. The other 28 designs are in the dinosaur stickers collection, and our dinosaur stickers guide covers the two vinyl ranges.

    The towel bar

We don't sell bath towels. We do sell a big dinosaur towel, the Dino Jungle towel. It's listed as a beach towel, but at 30″ × 60″ ($49.99) or 36″ × 72″ ($54.99) it's the size of a bath sheet. The front is printed with dense prehistoric jungle and roaming dinosaurs, and the back is terry, which does the drying. The fabric is 52% cotton and 48% polyester in the US. It's printed on one side only, so hang it with the print facing out.

It's the right towel for a child who loves dinosaurs. They can wrap up in the whole jungle.

    The windowsill: a planter

If your bathroom has a window, a plant makes it look finished. The Jurassic Jungle dinosaur planters ($34.99) are small laser-etched pots made from recycled plastic, and each comes with a plant: a jade, a zebra succulent or a star cactus. Three pot shapes, none bigger than about 3½″, so they fit a narrow sill. Both planter listings are in the dinosaur flower pots collection.

    What we don't sell (yet)

So you're not hunting: there's no dinosaur shower curtain, hand towel, toothbrush holder or soap dispenser in our shop right now. For the shower curtain, a plain one in a color pulled from your bath mat or poster ties the room together better than a fourth dinosaur pattern would. Two or three strong dinosaur pieces look intentional. Eight look like a theme park.

    Two dinosaur bathrooms, priced out

    A kids' bathroom, about $67

    • Museum Dinosaurs bath mat, 24″ × 17″: $29.99
    • Dinosaur Chart with Names poster, 12″ × 16″: $24.99 (frame it, or hang it far from the shower)
    • Three Rainbow Bubble Bath stickers at 2″: $11.97

    A grown-up bathroom, about $99

    • Museum Dinosaurs bath mat, 34″ × 21″: $44.99
    • Velociraptor Natural History Plate, 11″ × 14″: $18.99, in a frame you already own
    • A Jurassic Jungle planter with a jade plant: $34.99

Swap the unframed poster for the Fossil Hunter framed print ($49.99) and either room is fully ready to hang the day it arrives.

How long it takes to arrive

Everything is made to order, so production comes before shipping. These are the estimates on each listing (US standard shipping, business days):

    Item Production Shipping
    Stickers 1–2 2–5
Bath mat, towel, framed poster, newer posters 2–5 3–4
    Planters 2–4 3–7
Older poster designs (vintage plates such as Trilobite and Pteranodon) 2–5 3–9

Order everything together and the slowest item sets the date.

    FAQ

Will a paper poster survive in a bathroom? In a well-ventilated bathroom, framed and away from the shower, yes. Unframed paper in a steamy room with no fan will ripple over time, whatever brand it is. If steam is a problem, the framed Fossil Hunter poster with its acrylic front is the safer choice.

Can I put dinosaur stickers on bathroom tiles? Yes. Our stickers are waterproof vinyl rated for indoor and outdoor use. Put them on clean, dry, smooth tile, and keep them out of the direct shower spray.

What size bath mat do I need? For in front of a standard 60″ tub, the 34″ × 21″. For in front of a sink or in a small powder room, the 24″ × 17″.

Is dinosaur bathroom decor only for kids? No. Pick the artwork that suits the adults: a natural-history plate, the museum-style bath mat, a succulent. That reads as a collector's bathroom, not a nursery. For a kids' room, go brighter with the labeled chart and the bubble-bath sticker.

Do you sell a dinosaur shower curtain? Not at the moment. See "What we don't sell" above.

Start with the floor, since the bath mat does the most work for the money: see the Museum Dinosaurs bath mat.
