Ladies' Dinosaur Shirts: The Fits, the Fabrics, and Which Design Suits Whom

Most ladies' dinosaur shirts online are a men's tee with a pink dinosaur on it. Ours come in three different cuts, and the cut matters more than the print: a relaxed women's tee, a straight unisex tee, and a fitted stretch tank top. Pick the shape first and the dinosaur second.

Women's relaxed tee: the ladies' dinosaur shirt most people mean

This is the cut with a women's pattern: a crew neck, side seams and a relaxed body that skims rather than clings. The cotton is combed and ring-spun, which is what gives it the soft, smooth hand, and it's pre-shrunk. Solid colors are 100% cotton; the heather colors are blends (most are 52% cotton, 48% polyester), so pick a heather if you like a drapier, slightly stretchier tee.

Sizes run S to 3XL. The listings don't print a size chart for this cut, so if you're between sizes, size from a relaxed-fit tee you already own rather than a fitted one.

The designs on this cut are mostly for mothers:

• Mamasaurus Sunset: a T. rex silhouette against a striped retro sunset, with one small rex riding on its back and another trotting alongside. The classic "mom of two" mamasaurus.
• Realistic Piggyback Mamasaurus: a painted, realistic T. rex carrying a baby on its back. For someone who'd rather wear the museum than the cartoon.
• Simple Brontosaurus Mamasaurus: a single line-drawn long-neck on a horizon line. The quietest design in the range.
• Don't Mess With Mamasaurus: a roaring blue rex under "or you'll get Jurasskicked." The loud one.
• Dinosaur Mom: the word MOM in white block letters, with dinosaurs cut out of each letter.
• Mommysaurus: a triceratops and baby in white line art with a small red heart.
• Coming Soon: a baby dinosaur curled inside a pastel egg. It's a pregnancy announcement you can wear, and it photographs well.

There's one that isn't about motherhood at all: Mandala Dubreuillosaurus, a dinosaur in a circle of jungle ferns under a patterned sunset, drawn in a dense mosaic style. It's the one to buy for a woman who simply likes dinosaurs.

The unisex tee: more sizes, straighter cut

A lot of our dinosaur shirts for women are cut unisex: the same 4.2 oz combed cotton, but a straight, unisex body. If you prefer a boxier fit, want to knot the hem, or need a size outside S–3XL, this is the cut to look at. Most designs run XS to 4XL, and the unisex listings include a size chart; on the adult shirt chart a medium is 29 inches long and 20 inches across the chest, laid flat.

Examples in the women's collection include the Japanese-print T. rex designs (Geisha, Samurai), Pteroble Puns, Winosaur, and Jurassic Flowery Night, a white T. rex and raptor in a bed of pink roses under a crescent moon. Women's dinosaur tank tops: fitted and patterned all over

The tank is a different garment entirely. It's 82% polyester and 18% spandex with four-way stretch, cut close to the body, and the pattern is printed edge to edge rather than as a graphic on the chest. It works for the gym, for layering under an open shirt, or for summer.

A few to know: Blue Watercolor Dinos (soft blue and teal dinosaurs on white), Pastel Dinos (tiny yellow, green and pink dinosaurs in rows, which reads as a subtle pattern from a distance), and 90's Dinos (neon dinosaurs on black with triangles and squares, straight off a 1990s trapper keeper). Which dinosaur shirt for women, for whom?

Shipping, and when to order for Christmas

Every shirt is printed when you order, which is why none ship the same day. Each listing gives two phases: production, then shipping, US only, with a tracking number sent once it ships. The cuts differ:

• Women's relaxed tee: 2–4 business days, then 3–8 in transit. Order by December 3 for Christmas.
• Unisex tee: 2–6, then 2–5. Order by December 4.
• Tank top: 2–4, then 7–10. Order by December 1.

Those dates allow the full maximum on both phases plus a few days for the holiday rush at the carriers. Earlier is safer.

Ladies' dinosaur shirt FAQ

What's the difference between the women's tee and the unisex tee? The women's tee is a relaxed women's cut, S–3XL. The unisex tee is a straighter cut, usually XS–4XL. Same cotton weight.

Are they 100% cotton? The solid colors on both tees are. Heather colors are cotton-polyester blends. The tank tops are polyester and spandex.

Do you have plus sizes? The women's relaxed tee goes to 3XL and most unisex tees to 4XL. We also carry plus-size dinosaur leggings.
