  • Dinosaur Ties: Seven Designs, What They're Made Of, and When to Order for Christmas

    October 09, 2026 4 min read

A dinosaur tie is the rare piece of office wear that starts a conversation. It suits the paleontologist who has to dress for a conference, the teacher on picture day, the dad who will wear it to every family wedding from now on, and anyone whose job asks for a tie but not for a boring one.

We sell seven dinosaur ties, all $21.99 and all printed when you order. They're the same tie with seven different prints, so choosing one is mostly about the design and the date you need it by. Everything below comes from the live listings.

    The seven dinosaur tie designs

Because the tie itself doesn't change, the print does all the work. Here's how the seven sort out.

Loud, for the people whose colleagues already know about the dinosaurs

    • 90's Retro: a black tie covered in pink, teal, yellow and green dinosaurs on triangles and squares, the geometric look of a 1990s notebook cover. It's the one of ours that already turns up in search for "dinosaur tie."
    • Neon Dinos: a near-black tie with dinosaurs drawn in bright green outline. From across a room it reads as a dark tie with a green pattern; up close it's a herd.

Quiet, for an office with a dress code

    • Blue and White Raptors: a navy tie with small white and pale-blue raptor silhouettes in rows. Of the seven, it's the closest to a conventional patterned tie, and the safest under a suit jacket.
    • Ancient Relics: a muted sage green with dark dinosaur skulls, eggs and fern fronds. For the person who would rather wear the fossil record than the cartoon.
    • Colorful Dinos: a cream tie scattered with small red, green, blue and orange dinosaurs. The light background keeps it soft rather than loud, which suits a light shirt or a summer suit.

A joke the wearer is in on

    • Dino Dads: purple and green dinosaurs on a pale background, made for fathers. It's also part of our Dadasaurus collection, which has a matching Dino Dad t-shirt, hoodie, polo, swimsuit and flip-flops if you're building a bigger gift.
    • Dino Nuggies: orange dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets on pale mint. For the parent who has cooked a great many of them.

All seven are in our dinosaur tie collection, where you can see the prints side by side.

What a dinosaur necktie from us is made of

Each tie is 100% polyester at 3.10 ounces per square yard (105 gsm). That's a lightweight fabric with a silky finish, which is what lets a printed design come out bright and sharp. Silk ties are usually woven, so the pattern is in the threads; ours are printed, which is why a detailed picture of a raptor is possible at all.

The print is on the front only. The back is plain, with a keeper loop that holds the narrow end in place so it doesn't swing out from behind the wide one. The end is the classic V point, so it knots and hangs like any standard tie.

The listing doesn't give a length, a width or care instructions. If you're buying for someone very tall or someone who prefers a skinny tie, we can't promise a measurement, so check with us before you order. For cleaning, spot-clean and hang to dry is the cautious choice for any printed polyester tie.

    Is a dinosaur tie office-appropriate?

That depends on the office, but the print choice makes more difference than you'd think. Blue and White Raptors, Ancient Relics and Colorful Dinos use small repeating motifs on a calm background, so from a few feet away they look like an ordinary patterned tie. 90's Retro does not, and isn't trying to.

Where a dinosaur tie is completely at home: a museum or science job, school photos, a paleontology talk, a birthday dinner, a themed wedding, or a dinosaur-loving kid's party where the grown-up wants to join in.

Shipping and when to order a dinosaur tie for Christmas

Every tie is printed to order, which keeps waste down and is why none of them ship the same day. The listings give 1 to 4 business days in production and then 4 to 8 business days in transit, within the US only. You get a tracking number once the tie enters shipping.

To have one by December 24, order by December 3. That's the full 12 business days with a few days of margin for the holiday rush at the carriers.

For Father's Day 2027 (June 20), order by the first days of June on the same arithmetic.

    Making it a bigger gift

A tie on its own is a stocking-sized present. If you want to build it out, the men's dinosaur socks are the natural partner for a shirt and tie, and the dinosaur mug guide covers the mugs, including the Cool Dadasaurus Rex mug that pairs with the Dino Dads tie.

    Dinosaur tie FAQ

How much is a dinosaur tie? All seven of ours are $21.99.

Is there a T. rex tie? None of the seven is a single big T. rex. Most are repeating patterns of several kinds of dinosaur, and Blue and White Raptors is all raptors; check the product photos for the species you want.

Do you make a kids' dinosaur tie or a bow tie? No. Each tie is sold in one size, made for adult wear, and we don't currently sell a dinosaur bow tie or tie bar.

Is the print on both sides? No, the front only. The back is plain, which is normal for a necktie since the back faces your shirt.

Is it silk? No, it's printed polyester with a silky finish.

Do you ship outside the US? The tie listings state US shipping only.

    Pick the print

The tie is the same in all seven; the dinosaur is what you're choosing. Go quiet with Blue and White Raptors or Ancient Relics, loud with 90's Retro, or make the joke with Dino Dads or Dino Nuggies. All of them are in our dinosaur tie collection.
