Dinosaur Sweatshirts: Every Design, Which Fit, and When to Order for Halloween and Christmas

A dinosaur sweatshirt is the easy version of dinosaur clothing. No hood to flop around, no all-over print to commit to: one good picture on the chest of a plain crewneck, worn to work on a Friday, to a pumpkin patch in October, or to a family Christmas where everyone else is in a reindeer sweater.

We make seven of them right now: three for Halloween, two for Christmas, one for the rest of the year, and one youth crewneck. They're printed on two different adult sweatshirts, and that difference matters more than which design you pick, because one of them runs small. Every price, size and lead time below comes from the live listings.

The short version

The six adult sweatshirts are unisex, so men's dinosaur sweatshirts and women's dinosaur sweatshirts show the same six. Shop whichever one you land on.

Two different sweatshirts under the prints

The premium crewneck (Skeleton & Pumpkins and Happy Halloween Broom). It has a 100% cotton face over a 65/35 cotton-poly fleece, tightly knit 3-end fleece, side seams and double-stitched rib at the collar, cuffs and hem. It's the heavier, more structured of the two. It runs small, and the listing says so plainly: order one size up. Sizes S–3XL.

The classic crewneck (everything else for adults). A 50/50 cotton-poly blend, pre-shrunk, classic fit, with air-jet spun yarn for a soft face and a rib collar with a little spandex in it so the neck keeps its shape. Order your usual size. Sizes S–5XL, which makes it the one to choose for anyone who needs above a 3XL.

Prices are $41.99 up to XL on both, then step up with size: $43.99 for 2XL and $45.99 for 3XL, with the classic going on to $47.99 (4XL) and $49.99 (5XL). The exception is T-Rex Winter Forest, which is $41.99 in every size.

Dinosaur Halloween sweatshirts

Halloween is three and a half weeks out, and these are the three sweatshirts to wear to it. A sweatshirt is the low-effort costume: it counts as dressing up at the office party and still works on a cold night of trick-or-treating, over whatever else you've got on.

• Skeleton & Pumpkins: a T. rex skeleton standing in a patch of jack-o'-lanterns, bare trees and bats behind it. The most "grown-up" Halloween design here, and it comes in Carbon Grey, Forest Green, Dusty Rose and White. Premium fit, so size up.
• Happy Halloween Broom: a cartoon T. rex in a witch's hat riding a broomstick past a bubbling cauldron, with "HAPPY HALLOWEEN!" in drippy white letters. Seven colors, from Black to Dusty Rose. Premium fit, so size up.
• T-Rex or Treat: an orange T. rex and a little ghost in a witch's hat over a "T-REX OR TREAT" banner, in a badge that will look familiar to anyone who saw a certain 1993 film. Classic fit, up to 5XL.

For kids: 9 Halloween Dinos is a youth crewneck with a grid of nine small dinosaurs in costume (a witch, a mummy, a skeleton, a ghost) all carrying pumpkin buckets. Dinosaur Christmas sweatshirts

Two designs, both on the classic crewneck with sizes to 5XL, so they work as a matching set for a family photo.

• Merry Little Rex-Mas: a teal T. rex in a Santa hat in front of a snowy pine forest, with "Have yourself a merry little REX-MAS" in red lettering. Seven colors; Forest Green and Red are the Christmas-card ones.
• T-Rex Winter Forest: a white T. rex in a Santa hat against a round blue-and-purple winter sky with pine trees. It's quieter, more of a winter sweatshirt that happens to be festive, so it doesn't look odd in January. $41.99 in every size, which makes it the cheapest way to get a 4XL or 5XL.

The one for the rest of the year

Dinosaurs Never Had Coffee: a fossil T. rex skull between two steaming cups, and the line "Dinosaurs never had coffee, and we know how that turned out." It's the one to give someone who isn't otherwise into dinosaurs but is very into their morning coffee. Classic fit, S–5XL, in Sand, Sport Grey, Indigo Blue, Light Pink and White.

Which dinosaur sweatshirt for who

• Someone who needs 4XL or 5XL: any classic-fit design. T-Rex Winter Forest costs the same in every size.
• Someone who likes a heavier, cotton-faced sweatshirt: Skeleton & Pumpkins or Happy Halloween Broom. Order a size up.
• A child: 9 Halloween Dinos, youth XS–XL.
• A coworker or a coffee person: Dinosaurs Never Had Coffee.
• A family photo in December: Merry Little Rex-Mas in Red or Forest Green for everyone.

When to order

Every sweatshirt is printed when you order it, so the wait is make time plus shipping. All seven listings give the same window: 2–5 business days to print, then 3–6 business days to ship, US only. You get a tracking code when it ships. Plan on up to 11 business days.

• For Halloween (Saturday, October 31): order by Thursday, October 15. That gets it to you by Friday the 30th even at the slow end of both windows.
• For Christmas: order by Friday, December 4 for delivery by around December 21. Later than that, it may still arrive in time, but it isn't something we can count on.

Dinosaur sweatshirt FAQ

Do your dinosaur sweatshirts run small? The two premium crewnecks do, Skeleton & Pumpkins and Happy Halloween Broom, and their listings say to order one size up. The classic crewnecks are pre-shrunk and cut to a classic fit, so order your usual size.

What's the biggest size? 5XL, on the four classic-fit designs. The premium crewnecks stop at 3XL; the youth crewneck runs XS–XL.

Are they men's or women's? Unisex. The men's and women's sweatshirt collections hold the same six adult designs.

Do you make a dinosaur Christmas sweatshirt for kids? Not right now. The only youth sweatshirt is the Halloween one. For a child, the wider kids dinosaur apparel range is the place to look.

What are they made of? The premium crewneck is a 100% cotton face on a 65% cotton, 35% polyester fleece. The classic crewneck and the youth sweatshirt are 50% cotton, 50% polyester.

The short answer

For Halloween, pick a design and order by October 15, sizing up if it's one of the premium two. For Christmas, Merry Little Rex-Mas is the festive one and T-Rex Winter Forest is the one you'll still wear in February. Order by December 4.
