  • Dinosaur Printables: Ideas for Parties, Classrooms and Kids' Rooms

    October 16, 2026 5 min read

Dinosaur printables are one of the cheapest ways to make a room, a party or a classroom feel properly prehistoric. You buy a file once, print it as many times as you need, and you've got wall art for a kid's bedroom, coloring pages for a rainy afternoon, or a T. rex for the birthday table.

We've just made our first set of dinosaur printables: ten designs, from museum-style wall art to pastel nursery prints and thick-outline coloring pages. Below are the ideas we had in mind when we made them, plus a few honest tips on printing them so they actually look good.

What you get with each dinosaur printable

Every design comes as a digital download, so there's nothing to ship. After checkout you get a download link by email, and the files are:

    • 8 x 10 in (2400 x 3000 px, 300 DPI), as a PNG and a PDF
    • 11 x 14 in (3300 x 4200 px, 300 DPI), as a PNG and a PDF
    • US Letter 8.5 x 11 in PDF for the coloring pages, ready to print on a home printer

Both wall-art sizes fit standard frames you can pick up almost anywhere. Every file comes with our Family & Classroom License: print as many copies as you like for your own home and family, or for your own students or group.

Dinosaur printables for a dino birthday party

If you're planning a dinosaur party (we wrote a whole guide to throwing a dinosaur birthday party), printables do a lot of the decorating for very little money.

    • A coloring station. Print a stack of the T-Rex Volcano, Stegosaurus Jungle and Hatching Dino Eggs pages, put them out with a tub of crayons, and you've got the activity that keeps early arrivals busy. The pages are pure black and white with thick outlines, so they print crisp on any home printer and don't burn through color ink.
    • A "how big were they?" wall. Tape the Dinosaur Size Chart by the door and let each guest stand next to it. Kids love finding out that they'd barely reach a T. rex's knee.
    • Table art. Slip an 8 x 10 print into an inexpensive frame and use it as a centerpiece, then hang it in the birthday kid's room afterward.
    • Party favors. A rolled-up coloring page tied with string is a surprisingly popular take-home, and it costs pennies to print.

    Dinosaur printables for the classroom

Teachers and homeschool parents were a big part of why we made these. A few ways to use them:

    • Letter practice. The ABC Dinos Alphabet has all 26 capital letters, each with a baby dinosaur climbing on it. Put it up by the reading corner and ask kids to find the dino hiding in a letter.
    • Scale and measurement. The size chart lines up a child, a Velociraptor, a Stegosaurus, a Triceratops, a T. rex and a Brachiosaurus at roughly the right relative sizes. It's a nice way into comparing heights, and into the surprise that a real Velociraptor was about the size of a turkey, not the man-sized monster most people picture.
    • Science-and-art lessons. The Velociraptor plate shows the animal with feathers, the way paleontologists now think it looked. Pair it with our post on how feathered dinosaur fossils changed the picture.
    • Quiet-time coloring. Keep a folder of coloring pages for early finishers. Because the files are yours, you can print a fresh set whenever the folder runs low.

Dinosaur wall art for kids' rooms and nurseries

Dinosaur rooms don't have to be loud. Our kids' prints lean soft: sage, blush, powder blue and cream.

    • Nursery: Pastel Baby Dinos shows three baby dinosaurs under a sleepy moon. It's gender-neutral and works with most nursery color schemes.
    • Toddler or preschool room: the ABC Dinos alphabet, which grows with them from "point at the dinosaur" to actually reading the letters.
    • Older kids: the size chart, or a more realistic piece such as Triceratops in the Ferns, which still suits the room at 12.
    • Gallery wall: print three in the same size and hang them in matching frames. The pastel trio of Baby Dinos, ABC Dinos and the size chart sits together nicely.

    Dinosaur posters for grown-ups

Not every dinosaur fan is six. The T-Rex Portrait is a moody, old-master-style painting for a study or office, and the Pterosaur Dawn print is a soft, airy landscape for a bedroom or hallway. (Pedant's note: pterosaurs weren't dinosaurs. They were flying reptile cousins. They still belong on the wall.) Print the 11 x 14 version at a photo lab and it makes a good-looking dinosaur poster for less than the cost of a frame.

How to print them so they look good

    • Use "actual size" or 100% scaling. Home printers like to shrink things to fit. Turn that off and the 8 x 10 prints at exactly 8 x 10 on letter paper.
    • Pick the right paper. Matte photo paper or light cardstock for wall art; regular printer paper is fine for coloring pages.
    • Go to a print shop for 11 x 14. Most home printers can't do it. Upload the 11 x 14 PNG or PDF to any local print shop or photo lab and ask for a matte or lustre finish.
    • Frame the wall art. A simple frame with a white mat makes an at-home print look like it came from a gallery.

    Dinosaur printable FAQ

Is anything shipped? No. These are digital downloads: you get a download link by email after purchase, and you print them yourself.

What sizes are included? 8 x 10 and 11 x 14 inches at 300 DPI, as PNG and PDF. The coloring pages also come as a US Letter PDF.

Are the coloring pages good for little kids? They're designed for about ages 4 to 8: bold outlines, big shapes, and no gray shading.

Is a frame included? No. The photos show how the prints can look framed.
