  • Dinosaur Tumblers: Our 20 oz and 25 oz Designs, and How They Differ

    October 15, 2026 5 min read

A dinosaur tumbler is the dinosaur gift for the person who already has a dinosaur mug on their desk and drinks their coffee in the car anyway. We print seven of them, and they come in two quite different styles: a slim 20 oz insulated tumbler with a slide lid, and a taller 25 oz travel mug with a handle.

This page covers what separates the two, every design we make in each, how to look after them, and how long they take to arrive. Everything about materials and care comes from the product listings.

The two kinds of dinosaur tumbler

Both are stainless steel, both are $29.99, and both are printed when you order. After that they part ways.

20 oz tumbler 25 oz travel tumbler
Designs African Dinosaur Safari, Pink Retro T-Rex, American T-Rex Dinosaur Mom, Serene Stegosaurus, Pastel Sunrise, Dinosaurs Never Had Coffee
Build Double-walled, vacuum insulated stainless steel Stainless steel and BPA-free plastic
Lid Splash-proof slide lid Spill-proof plastic lid
    Handle No Yes
    Cleaning Dishwasher safe Hand-wash only
Car cup holder Not stated on the listing Fits most car cup holders
    Size 20 oz 25 oz (739 ml), 7.9″ tall
    Price $29.99 $29.99

The short version: the 20 oz is the one to pick if it's going in the dishwasher, and its listing is the one that says vacuum insulated. The 25 oz is the commuter's cup: it holds more, it has a handle, and the listing says it fits most car cup holders. It's hand-wash only, which matters more than people expect for something used every day.

The 20 oz insulated dinosaur tumblers

Three designs, each with a clear slide lid and no handle. These are the listings that use the word "insulated": double-walled stainless steel, an electro-polished interior, dishwasher safe, BPA free. Don't microwave them.

    • African Dinosaur Safari: the map of Africa filled with a sunset in bands of yellow, orange, red and purple, with dinosaur and acacia-tree silhouettes walking across it. The most colorful tumbler we make.
    • Pink Retro T-Rex: a black T. rex skeleton on a pink background with mint blocks, a pink brushstroke and yellow dots. It's the T rex tumbler for someone whose taste runs more pastel than Jurassic.
    • American T-Rex: a roaring T. rex painted in the stars and stripes, on a light grey tumbler. It also sits in our America dinosaurs range, so it works as a Fourth of July gift as well as a Christmas one.

The 25 oz dinosaur travel tumblers

These are taller, with a handle and a clear plastic lid, and they hold 25 oz. The listing describes them as a travel mug, which is the honest name: this is the one that rides in the car and sits on the desk all morning.

    • Dinosaurs Never Had Coffee: a fossil T. rex skull between two steaming cups, and the line "Dinosaurs never had coffee, and we know how that turned out." The same artwork is on one of our dinosaur mugs if you want a matching pair for home and the commute. This listing also offers a 40 oz option at $30.99. The specs on the listing describe the 25 oz version only, so check the option before you order.
    • Dinosaur Mom: "MOM" in big black letters, with a triceratops and two pterosaurs cut out of them in white. It's part of the Mamasaurus collection, which has more gifts for mothers in the same spirit if you're building a bigger gift.
    • Serene Stegosaurus: a lavender stegosaurus in a jungle clearing under a palm tree and a pink-and-blue sky. Soft and painterly, and the easiest one here to give to someone whose taste you don't know well.
    • Pastel Sunrise: a long-necked, sail-backed dinosaur grazing through a flower meadow under a big peach sun, in muted greens and corals.

One thing the 25 oz listings flag that's worth repeating: open the lid before you put it on a hot drink, to stop steam pressure building up.

Which dinosaur tumbler for which person

    • The coffee person, or the coworker who shouldn't be spoken to before 9 a.m.: Dinosaurs Never Had Coffee, in 25 oz or 40 oz.
    • Mom: Dinosaur Mom. Pair it with something else from the Mamasaurus collection.
    • Someone who hates hand-washing: any of the three 20 oz tumblers.
    • A T. rex fan: Pink Retro T-Rex or American T-Rex.
    • Someone who likes their things pretty, not loud: Serene Stegosaurus or Pastel Sunrise.
    • A kid: these are full-size adult tumblers in stainless steel, not kids' cups, and none of the listings says otherwise. For a child, an 11 oz mug from the dinosaur mugs collection is lighter and easier to hold.

How long a dinosaur tumbler takes to arrive

Every tumbler is printed to order, and the two styles have different lead times. The listings give these estimates for standard US shipping:

Style Production Shipping Longest total Order by for Christmas
25 oz travel tumbler 3–5 business days 4–7 business days 12 business days Monday, December 7
20 oz insulated tumbler 3–7 business days 10 business days 17 business days Monday, November 30

We worked back from the longest quoted time to a Wednesday, December 23 delivery. Those are the last safe days, not targets: carriers slow down in the final weeks before Christmas, so order a few days earlier if you can. Note the 20 oz tumblers need ordering a week sooner. These are our estimates from the listings, not a delivery guarantee. Tracking is emailed once the order ships.

If the tumbler is one part of a bigger gift, our dinosaur Christmas gift guide has the rest, with order-by dates for each.

    Dinosaur tumbler FAQ

    Are the tumblers dishwasher safe?

The 20 oz tumblers are, according to their listings. The 25 oz travel tumblers are hand-wash only.

Do they keep drinks hot or cold?

The 20 oz listings describe a double-walled, vacuum insulated tumbler that keeps drinks at the temperature you want. The 25 oz listings say the travel mug keeps your drink "at just the right temperature" but don't say it's insulated or give a time, so we won't promise hours of heat for either.

Can I microwave a dinosaur tumbler?

No. The 20 oz listings say not to, and both styles are stainless steel.

Is the design on both sides?

It depends on the design. Pink Retro T-Rex is a pattern that runs around the tumbler, while Serene Stegosaurus is a single picture on one side. Each listing has photos from more than one angle, so check those before you choose.

Do you ship tumblers outside the US?

The shipping estimates on the tumbler listings are for standard US shipping. If you're ordering from elsewhere, check the options at checkout first.

If you're buying for the morning commute, start with Dinosaurs Never Had Coffee. It's the one that says the most about the person carrying it.
